#1: OKK for the starters, PLEASE join Dropbox with some other person's referral. I didn’t knew it so I missed the EXTRA 500 MB, but you guys can get it by joining Dropbox from HERE, so that you can get 500 MB extra apart from the usual 2 GB space it is offering.

#2: Complete the easy tasks given at https://www.dropbox.com/free and you will get instantly 875 MB in your account. The tasks including linking your dropbox account to your social networking sites and posting updates about dropbox. Even you will get getting free space for learning the usage of dropbox. Installing the application at mobile and pc. Sharing folders will also give you some space. Its fun isn’t it?

[TOTAL space earned (2.5 GB + 875 MB) 3.375 GB so far]

#3: Camera Uploads, a new feature at Dropbox where you get 500 MB for the first photos you upload from your mobile or camera by using either desktop or mobile app. And you will be getting 500 MB of another storage for every 500 MB of photos you upload till total 3 GB (500Mb for first use + 2.5 GB extra) and this will be added to your free space for life for free. Means After uploading even if you delete the pictures then too you will be getting that space. But finding 2.5 GB (YES you need 2.5 GB, because you will get the first 500 MB when you upload even a single picture from mobile or camera) worth of pictures is a daunting task. Also you have to upload it from camera SD card or mobile. But there are tricks to get that free space -

TRICK 1: Arrange 2.5 GB of pictures at your disposal, format your USB pendrive. Add a “DCIM” or “CAMERA” named folder in your pendrive's root directory (without the quotes obviously). And then remove and insert your pendrive in your pc and the dropbox application will automatically pop up and will ask you for uploading pictures using camera upload. Allow it and leave it while it is uploading. You will get the space when dropbox will realize the space.

TRICK 2: This trick needs a little more technical knowledge and at least 3 GB free space in your HDD and camera / mobile / pendrive. This is called “Real Camera Upload” Trick, The main star of this GUIDE. Follow some steps to do it -

a) Click on start menu/orb > Program Files > Accessories > Command Promp. Right click on it and choose “Run as Administrator” or simply type “cmd” (without quotes) in the start menu and Right click on it and choose “Run as Administrator”.

b) Type “fsutil file createnew C:\my_pic.jpg 609222656” at the command prompt following the exact order and without semicolons. Now here the “C:\” is the address, “my_pic.jpg” is the file name, “609222656” is the size in bytes.

c) A new file of the above name with 519 MB size will be created in C:\ drive.

d) You can change the drive address, file size and file name at your will.

e) THE MAIN TRICK HERE IS TO CREATE 6 (NOT 5 BUT 6) SEPARATE FILES USING ABOVE PROCEDURE WITH DIFFERENT NAME AND SIZE (NOT LESS THAN 510 MB). MEANS YOU HAVE TO INPUT THE ABOVE CODE 6 TIMES INTO COMMAND PROMPT WITH DIFFERENT NAME AND SIZE.

f) Now copy those files into your smartphone, upload them using dropbox. Or create a folder in pendrive and copy there and then upload.

g) You will see that the uploading will not take much time and bandwidth as the files are mostly filled with blanks. But after the realization of each update. dropbox will award you with size.

#4: Referrals, the single thing which can provide you with additional 16 GB of space. 500 MB for each referral and if you don’t have sort of friends, you can achieve this storage in no time. You need only 32 friends who will not only register themselves but also download the application and install it on their pc and login from there, by completing the total registering process. This process maybe time consuming but if you hold on to patience it will really pay you off.

The above space will be rounded to 22.4 GB automatically.

#5: The last trick is to keep an eye on regular dropbox updates. There are GB's hidden in offers and new things. Just like in previous time Dropbox gave its users extra GB for life when they are using the beta software. Mobile app update is also the same. There are many events, Dropbox Scavenger Haunt, where you can win even upto 100 GB of lifetime free space. The spacerace event where if you have any .edu domain email id from a verified college, you can get additional 2 GB space for life. If you now buy Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Camera, and Samsung Galaxy S3, you will be getting 50 GB of free space for 2 years. Keep you eye open to their News, Emails, Newsletters, Blog, Facebook & Twitter pages for those events.

So, as you see that With Dropbox really the sky is Limit. but if you need additional space you can always buy it from their attractive offers.
